ZeoCool is a range of high performance systems developed for shipping temperature sensitive material between +2°C to
+8°C; it combines both heating and cooling technology.
Heating technology occurs through an exothermic reaction which is a chemical reaction accompanied by the release of heat. In other words, the energy needed for the reaction to occur is less than the total energy released. As a result of this, the extra energy is released, usually in the form of heat.
Cooling technology occurs through evaporation - the change of a liquid into a vapour at a temperature below boiling point. Evaporation takes place on the surface of a liquid, where molecules with the highest kinetic energy are able to escape. When this happens, the average kinetic energy of the liquid is lowered and its temperature decreases. The use of evaporation is seven times more efficient at cooling than using frozen ice packs.
ZeoCool combines both heating and cooling so is smaller in size compared to standard passive shipping systems – enabling the user to benefit from a greater payload space and significantly reduced distribution costs.
